🌹 So important to me in this world. To be surrounded by strong men, not domineering men, not men who need to control, intimidate, overpower or constantly prove who they are, but genuinely strong men. There is such a difference. Real strength does not arrive loudly. It does not need to dominate a room or make another person feel smaller to feel important. It does not demand obedience, silence another voice, or confuse control with protection. True strength is steady. It is found in the man who knows who he is and therefore does not need to constantly announce it. The man who can listen without becoming defensive. The man who can disagree without becoming cruel. The man who can stand beside a woman, and never feel threatened by her independence, her intelligence, her dreams or the fullness of who she is. There is something incredibly reassuring about being surrounded by men whose strength feels safe. Men whose presence allows your shoulders to drop. Men who do not make you second-guess every word you speak or every decision you make. Men who do not need to keep you small to feel large. Instead, they encourage you to become more of yourself. They respect your voice. They admire your strength. They protect what is precious without ever trying to possess it. A strong man does not need to take away another person’s freedom to feel secure.
